Weekly assemblies with Mrs Ainsworth..

What happens in our weekly assemblies?

Each week, Mrs Ainsworth, leads dedicated assemblies for both KS1 and KS2 pupils. These sessions offer a valuable time to reflect, connect, and explore a wide range of topics—from school values and current events to personal development and community.

To keep parents in the loop, we’ll be sharing a summary of each assembly on our website and social media. This gives you the perfect opportunity to spark meaningful conversations with your child about what they’ve learned and discussed.

Week commencing 12/01/2026

This week Mrs Ainsworth spoke to the KS2 children about the UN Rights of a child.  She shared the book 'Every Child a Song' by Nicola Davies and Marc Martin. In the assembly they had a discussion about all children having rights regardless of their culture, background or current living situation. The children were articulate in their empathy for children in war, poverty and homeless situations - all voices should be heard.

In the KS1 assembly Mrs Ainsworth shared Michael Rosen's book 'The Big Dreaming'. The children recognised that this was the same author as 'Chocolate cake' the poem. The Big Dreaming is a wonderful story about a little bear who is worried but his friendships help him find hope and happiness just before he is about to hibernate. The children loved seeing the animals, hearing about the dreams and helping to reassure Little Bear.

Week commencing 05/01/2026

Mrs Ainsworth welcomed the children to 2026 by showing them the London firework display and talking about what New Year means to the children. She then read the new Tom Percival book ' The Wonder' encouraging the children to look for hope, beauty and wonder in the small parts of our world everyday.

Week commencing 24/11/2025

In assembly this week, Mrs Ainsworth recapped the key messages from Anti-Bullying Week.

At our school, we believe anti-bullying isn’t something to focus on for just one week — it’s something we talk about, model, and reinforce every single week!

We revisited what bullying is, how to speak up, how to support others, and how we can all help make our school a safe and kind place for everyone.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the video together and chat about what they learned.

Together, we can help every child feel safe, heard, and valued.

Week commencing 29/09/2025

This week Mrs Ainsworth's assembly to KS1 and KS2 was about a book The Grand Hotel of Feelings - we discussed the importance of identifying our feelings and giving them time to be understood and then help them to stay or move on.
