Hampshire Music Service lessons
Hampshire Music Service very much hopes to be able to return to teaching in schools next term and seeing the pupils face to face.
In preparation for the new academic year, our teachers would usually be "drumming up trade" (excuse the pun!) by doing demonstrations in assemblies and showing off the instruments and the pupils who play them in concerts for parents, younger classes and perhaps other schools, with pupils transitioning from KS1 to 2 and KS2 to 3.
Without that option this term our staff have been preparing a video for each instrument family and voice. These are linked below.
Each video is around six minutes long and shows off the instruments/voice, how they work, what sort of music they play etc.
Even if pupils don't end up starting to learn an instrument there are points of learning in each of the videos so they're definitely beneficial for all to watch.
A letter will be sent out in September asking pupils to sign up if they wish to begin, or continue learning a musical instrument in school.
We also have instruments for hire for HMS pupils, so parents don't have to buy something straightaway, before knowing whether their child will stick at it.
We hope you enjoy the videos. There is quite a range of styles and lots of tunes that the children will know. Also, we have some very enthusiastic teachers as you'll see, especially on the woodwind video!
