Redlands has a great tradition of music making and is absolutely committed to providing opportunities for children to learn to make music and enjoy music. This is a singing school.

Singing is a regular feature of our assemblies and children get the chance to sing solo and in small groups at assembly and in our shows at Christmas and Summer. We have a school band who accompany our singing at the Friday Headteacher’s Celebration Assembly.

Music teaching takes place both in class as part of the curriculum and in our purpose-built music room.

Whole class music lessons in violin, keyboard, trumpet, clarinet, ukulele and drums are taught by teachers from Hampshire Music Service when the children are in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. There are also opportunities for children to have small group tuition in violin, guitar, saxophone, flute, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, trombone, keyboard and ukulele. These lessons are free and instruments may be hired from Hampshire Music Service.
