Treasure Island Week
Treasure Island week
This week the whole school studied the classic tale of “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Diaries were written about life onboard, a ship appeared in the quad for drama and role play as well as music and art activities related to the book. We also used Benjamin Britten’s piece “Storm” to compose our own pieces using percussion instruments.
On Friday we did our first House Challenge of building a pirate ship and composing and performing our own pirate songs. It was a great day and we all enjoyed working with children from across the school. The House Captains prepared origami activities, quizzes and treasure hunts for us too! Well done to Oxford House who were the overall winners!
